A World of Hope & Happiness without Fear & Prejudices

In our world more than two percent of the population suffers from intellectual disability. This is also true for India. However there are very few vocational training facilities for such disabled persons in India and assisted living facilities are almost negligible. Nirdhar is an initiative by parents to provide vocational training and assisted living facilities for their wards as well as to other affected persons.

In India there are more than 22 million persons with intellectual disabilities who have negligible support from government resources for their education, employment & daily living. Hence they are completely dependent on family support which is not forthcoming in many cases due to various reasons. Such cases require assisted living along with vocational training and sheltered employment.

What we do?

In Nirdhar the focus is on independence and providing own choice / space to ICPs as we all have in the ambit of our family. The care takers stay with the residents and form part of one big family called Nirdhar. The residents consider the Nirdhar as their home and are encouraged to support each other in a home like atmosphere. The residents maintain their independence while living in a safe and supported environment.

Founded by

Nirdhar Pratishthan was founded by a small group of parents who were determined to find a solution to the dilemma faced by most parents of Intellectually Challenged Persons (ICPs)

Reason for Formation

After me who will take care of my beloved son/daughter ? These parents formed a public charitable trust to create assisted living facility for Intellectually Challenged Persons (ICPs).

Current Situation

Nirdhar Pratishthan is established in two acres campus in a rural setting, where persons who are mentaly challenged find a home which is caring, enabling and free from biases.

Sponsorship & Donation.

Nirdhar does not receive assistance from the government in any way.
